Thank you for stopping by! You might know me as a professional matchmaker, a reality show contestant, a lawyer or a gal-about-town. Everyone has a story and here’s mine.
I was born and raised in NYC, the youngest of 3, with an older brother and sister. I had the good fortune to have parents who loved and valued each other and their children. My father was the type who “never met a stranger” and could talk to anyone for hours. My mother was more discriminating, but still an outgoing and loving person.
I’ve always had many interests and began my college career as a Sociology major at Northeastern University because sociology touched on nearly every other subject. After falling hard for my freshman communications course, I decided to transfer to Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications. I dreamed of being a film director but settled instead on producing. I graduated with a degree in Television, Radio and Film Production.
Post college, I worked in film production before landing a job at the Children’s Museum of the Arts in NYC. After two years in the non-profit art world, I followed my favorite uncle’s advice to attend graduate school. I decided on law and attended the University of Michigan Law School. Upon graduating, I returned to New York to work at a large international law firm. It was excellent experience, but I yearned for the creativity of the world of film. So after a few years as a corporate lawyer, I left the firm and New York to form an independent film production company with a law school friend in Los Angeles.
During the 5 years that followed, our company made a few short films, a documentary and developed many more projects that never saw the light of day. I moonlighted as a wardrobe stylist, casting assistant, and production assistant.
Upon my return to the east coast (and the practice of law), an opportunity arose to appear on the CBS television show Survivor. I went on to appear on Survivor Redemption Island and Survivor Caramoan. If you watch the show, you know my Survivor appearances were dismal failures! However, the experience of being on the show and the resolve I discovered within myself as a result were invaluable.
Having turned my attention away from my entrepreneurial pursuits following my time in LA, I took a long hard look at my life goals after my last appearance on Survivor. I took a long look at what I loved doing. I had created a blog about dating and relationships and contributed to two others on the same topic. I had traveled to over 30 countries on 6 continents and my best memories were of the people I’d met. I loved talking about dating and relationships and “playing Cupid” for my friends and acquaintances. My own love life was a constant focus of my energies.
As things serendipitously happen when we are open to such things, I became acquainted with matchmaker and author Paul C. Brunson. From him, I learned that matchmaking was a serious profession done by real people. I saw an opportunity to mesh my “love of love”, of connecting people and of entrepreneurship into one. Even my background in wardrobe styling and casting came into play. Now I style my clients and pound the pavement casting their dates! And my diverse and vast social network of professionals, artists and other creative types is the ideal source of eligible singles.
And so my matchmaking career was born. I connected with the Matchmaking Institute and received my matchmaking certification. I have recently joined The Paul Carrick Brunson Agency as a matchmaker and dating coach.
